The legalizing of Medical marijuana is again being discussed in Springfield.  State Rep. Lou Lang (D-Skokie) has again drafted legislation to legalize marijuana for medical purposes.

Gov. Pat Quinn says he hasn’t seen the final bill but is willing to have an open mind. “I’m going to listen to them. I have an open mind on that. I’ll listen and make a decision,” Quinn told reporters in Springfield on Wednesday.

Lang’s bill would create a four year pilot program that would limit the amount of marijuana one could receive with a doctor’s prescription and does not allow for individuals to grow their own marijuana plants.

The Illinois Department of Public Health would verify doctor-patient relationships and issue an ID card with which the patient could purchase pot from licensed dispensaries.
